As CHCSCT, our commitment to the health and well-being of our community is what drives us every day. We are excited to introduce Cassandra Haley to the Bastrop community. She is part of our medical team at Bastrop ISD Health Center and is responsible for providing compassionate, accessible, quality healthcare for our pediatric patients.
Get to Know Nurse Cassandra Haley

Cassandra has a deep love for hot coffee, and an even deeper love for her work as a Nurse Practitioner. Over the years, she’s combined her experience and knowledge with a heartfelt, human approach. As a mom of three, Cassandra knows how stressful it is when your child is sick. The nurses who supported her family during hospital visits inspired her to become a nurse herself and to give other families the same compassionate care.
With strong roots in healthcare and years of experience working with diverse families, Cassandra stands out for her warm, patient, and empathetic approach. Her goal is simple: for every family and child to feel heard, supported, and safe during their visit to the CHCSCT Bastrop ISD Health Center.
When asked what keeps her motivated in her career, Cassandra responded:
“When parents tell me their kids are actually excited to come see me — or that they’re repeating what we talked about at home, making healthier choices — that’s everything to me. Knowing what you say is being heard is incredibly rewarding.”
What is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and what does Cassandra focus on?
Cassandra is responsible for conducting physical and developmental assessment, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, providing follow-up for chronic conditions in patients with conditions such as asthma, diabetes or ADHD, administering vaccines, booster and wellness exams and advising parents on topics like nutrition, sleep, behavior, and child development, among others. Cassandra is more than a collaborator in our organization, in her role she can see an opportunity to create a connection with the community. Since her arrival to Bastrop, she has felt a personal and professional commitment to the wellness of the families in the area. She is bilingual, which allows her to establish conversations clearly with the members of the community and provide more inclusive care for those experiencing barriers to get access to health services.
A Focus on Family Wellness and Prevention
For Cassandra, pediatric care is just as much about prevention as it is treatment. She’s passionate about catching small concerns before they become bigger problems and teaching families how to make healthy choices every day.

“I love helping families stay ahead with prevention and nutrition education,” she says. “It means addressing issues before they’re even on the radar — that’s how we keep kids healthy and thriving.”
Cassandra believes healthy kids start with healthy habits at home. She often leads workshops to teach parents practical ways to build wellness into everyday life. Follow CHCSCT on social media (Facebook / Instagram).
Creating a Comfortable Space for Bastrop Kids and their Families

Step into Cassandra’s office and you’ll find a colorful, welcoming space where kids instantly feel at ease, thanks to her bright shirts, fun makeup, and friendly approach. She lets young patients get comfortable with the tools of her trade: they can listen to their own heartbeat, check a parent’s ears, or even give their favorite stuffed animal a quick exam before it’s their turn. It’s all about building trust, easing worries, and turning a doctor’s visit into something positive.
We asked Cassandra about what she keeps close by each day, and her answers reveal her caring style:
- Four different colorful stethoscopes, to fit patients of all sizes 🩺
- Bright, playful pens kids love!
- A warm coffee or cold Big Red to stay refreshed and bring her best to every visit
- Rain boots and Uggs tucked under her desk to keep her feet warm and cozy.
- And a mini-gym in her office for quick stress relief, something she happily shares with the whole team.
